Waking up to bursting sounds,
Walking up to the sighting grounds,
I explore the magic of colors—
Blue, red, and green.
To the left, I see golden sparkles,
To the right, silver ones gleam.
I see it all with my heart filled,
With flames of festivity and joy.
On the terrace I stand,
And realize how beautiful it is
To watch families laugh together,
To light and crackle in delight.
Today is Diwali,
A festival I don’t celebrate,
But one I’ve loved all my life,
For it marks my day of colors.
Every year I wait and wait,
To hear the cracks and see the lights
Sparkling across the plain dark night sky,
I love this day, and I wait for the next.
