Chapter 70: A letter to my future self

Dear Alena,

Hope you're doing well. This is your past self writing to you, with so many things I’ve wanted to ask and say. I really hope you've found success and are working in a job you genuinely enjoy.  I'm pretty sure you've made it there because I know how hard you’ve always worked, how dedicated you’ve been to make everyone proud especially Mom and Dad. Keep that strength going; they’re rooting for you, always.

I also hope you’ve settled into a life that feels right, a good home, and maybe even a family of your own. Are you happy? Are you content? Those are the things I care about most.

How is everyone at home? Are you still in touch with friends from school and college? What path did you take for your master’s degree? And, just out of curiosity, what’s your career like now? (I know—too many questions, but can you blame me?)

If life hasn’t gone as planned, that’s okay. I hope you’re still proud of yourself, no matter where you are or how far you’ve come. Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just stay true to yourself, keep pushing forward, and know that your past self believes in you.

Take care, and keep that spark alive. I know you’ll make the best of every moment. I love you Alena! <3

Chapter 1: Embracing Self Awareness

Let me begin my first blog with a quote, " Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom"- Aristotle I am Alena, I am a normal girl with ordinary talents. If that is the way I introduce myself, what makes me different and what makes me unique?  Most of the people including myself, become insecure and shy away from challenges life has in store because of not being self-aware of their potential. Self awareness plays a major role in personal growth and well being of a person. We need to understand and keep track of our strengths and weaknesses. Our strength could end up turning into our weakness and our weakness could end up being our strength later. An example from my life: In school, I had a hard time making friends which I considered as a flaw, In college I don't find that as an issue which ends up being my strength. I remember starting a personal diary to jot down my emotions and instead of writing what I truly felt, I wrote as if somebody would read it. That is not th...

Chapter 48 : I turned 19!

Today has been the best birthday ever, and I can't stop smiling! The morning began with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee, made with love by my mom. She surprised me with a beautiful dress that instantly became one of my favorites. My dad followed with a gift box filled with decadent chocolates, and my brother, knowing me too well, handed me my favorite chips, such simple yet thoughtful gestures that filled me with joy. When I got to college, I was greeted with warm hugs and heartfelt birthday wishes from everyone. Messages poured in, not just from friends at college but also from people I hadn’t expected, old schoolmates, friends from church, and even people I hadn't spoken to in a while. Their kindness and love made the day feel even more special, and I couldn't help but feel so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people.  One of the highlights was a heartfelt handmade letter from my best friend, Angel. It wasn’t just any letter; she had crafted it in...

Chapter 2: Pain behind every smile

For the people who think life is unfair, "The prettiest smiles hide the deepest secrets. The prettiest eyes have cried the most tears, and the kindest hearts have felt the most pain"- A beautiful soul. Behind every smile there is a hidden story. I had a teacher who had an immense amount of positivity in her. She always wore a beautiful smile on her face. She loved teaching her students and put in maximum effort to everything she did. Seeing her being so positive, I thought she didn't have much trials in life and I wished I was like her. Was that the reality? No!.  One day, we had a personal conversation with her and we realised how melancholic her life was. She narrated an incident where she was on the verge of losing her life and she talked about the other issues she had to encounter everyday of her life, which was not something we would imagine her having. She hid all the pain with a smile. I still remember asking her jokingly, "Should I write a book based on your ...
